Is This Why Your Dreams Aren’t Coming True?

Most of us don’t like to be though of as lazy. Especially when It comes to achieving our dreams and goals.

We start the year writing out our resolutions. We’re excited. We’re hopeful and pumped because we know that THIS year is going to be the best year EVER!!!

Then. Time. Goes By.

Things aren’t happening as quickly as we thought they would. We aren’t billionaires by March. Haven’t quit our jobs to travel the world and our children aren’t devoted geniuses. What?????

We did everything those darn gurus told us to do. Why are they rich and we aren’t? Why are their marriages wildly successful and we’re rolling our eyes at the empty table in front of us? Why, why why?

One word. Commitment.

Often we want the benefits of realizing our dream, but then find ourselves not willing to do what is required to live it out.

Like the millions of people who buy lottery tickets every week hoping, wishing and praying for a miracle, we keep staring at that wish list saying, “Come true already!”

However, I’ve only found one thing that makes our dreams come true…the consistent effort that comes through our commitment.

Do you find yourself making New Year’s Resolutions that you seem to abandon no sooner than February? Well, we’re in the final stretch of 2013 and it’s time for all of us to GET REAL and GET COMMITTED!

I’ve realized that there are three things that help me stay focused. I hope they’ll inspire you to stay the course too.

3 Ways to Commit to Your Dream

Embrace it – You must love and embrace the dream God gives. You cannot simply want it. You must see yourself living it. You must pray over it. You must adore it.

Plan for it – It is said that a dream without a plan is a wish. How are you going to accomplish this dream? Do you have that plan written down on paper? Take this dream out of your mind and put it on paper!

Execute it – DO it. God has only promised to prosper what we DO! Stop hoping, wishing and planning and start DOING.

Life Dare: Share your dream with us in the comment section below and the ONE thing you’ll DO this week to see it manifest. Your contribution to the earth is necessary and powerful. Get to it!

  1. The reminder that I needed from your post was that God only prospers what we do.

  2. For so long Cheryl, I was afraid to dream because I had no hope. With no hope there could be no dream. Now God has filled my heart with desire to pursue Him, to share His love and dream the dreams He has in His heart for me. He thinks I am worth dreaming about and that fills me with tremendous joy. I want to keep on learning how to make God’s dream for my life a present day reality and truly appreciate your insight. Thank you for sharing.

    • Awesome Jeannie! I’m glad God filled your heart with hope so we can benefit from the wonderful treasure He’s placed on the inside of you!

  3. I loved your pep talk here, Cheryl. I believe having a dream and then taking action steps is vital to fulfilling our purpose for God! Right now I am committed to making 3 phone calls every day to my customers and my prospects. I am committed to doing this Monday through Thursday. I know I will realize my dream of earning the incentive trip for 2014 to enjoy with my wonderful husband.

    • I love your steps Amy! One thing I’ve learned is that success follows action!!! With your determination I’ll know you and your husband are going to be enjoying that trip really soon. Blessings!!!
