10 Seconds to Free Your Mind

Day 20 of 31 Days to Putting God First

Today’s Scripture:

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever thingsare just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. Philippians 4:8

Today’s Prayer:

Dear Lord, one of the best gifts You gave to us outside of Jesus, was our minds. Help us to use it to Your glory. Help us to think good thoughts and to develop ideas, businesses and strategies that will 1) Glorify You, 2) Enrich our lives mentally, physically and financially and 3) Bless others.

Help us to think on things that lift us up and not things that tear us down. Help us think on things that lift others up and not on things that tear them down. Help us keep our affections pure.

While the world around us seeks to train our minds otherwise, help us gain and maintain control of the thoughts on which we meditate. Help us to guard our thoughts so that we can keep our minds stress free, anger free and worry free. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. I love it when prayers are written out for me. Rick and I are seeking to implement the 4:8 principle. Now when we feel tempted to go toward the negative we will say to each other, “four eight it!”

    • Kinsey, throughout this challenge I’ve learned how much more powerful my written prayers are. It’s been awesome to spend every day of this entire month writing these prayers. I love the phrase, ‘four eight it,” very clever!

  2. Having a healthy mindset is crucial. I love how this passage reminds us that it takes focus and action on our part to have a healthy mindset. Thanks for sharing!

    • Absolutely Silvia! Our mindset determines our actions. If we ever want to change any part of our lives, the change has to happen in our minds first.

  3. Loving this whole series!! We are BOMBARDED with distractions from every side all day long, so this is a wonderful respite!!

    • I’m loving it too! It’s been a great way to focus my energy on God as listen more intently He directs my path for this year and the years ahead.
