Slow Your Roll

Have you ever been waiting for something for a long time? It sometimes seems that the more you want something the longer you have to wait. The Bible says that hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life. (Proverbs 13:12)

Why do we think things must always happen so quickly anyway? Why must it always happen now? We are a generation of people who are spoiled with microwavable dreams. We don’t want to wait on the process for anything.

However, I’m learning that it is not wise to receive any gift before it’s time. Often God must prepare us for the gift before He gives us the gift. Why? Because He knows that if we’re not ready for the gift, we’ll misuse or even abuse the gift.

In the waiting room, God prepares our hearts to be grateful for His gift, teaches us how to care for the gift and instructs us how to listen to His voice in the use of the gift.

Gifts are wonderful things. However we must trust God in His distribution of the gift. He is not withholding anything from us. In His timing, when He knows we’re ready, He will release into our lives every gift He has promised. Relax. It’s coming.

  1. Straight to the point, yet very powerful! Everyday God gives us the opportunity to grow our character and walk in integrity. Getting ahead of God is a dangerous thing.
