Guest Post – Marshawn Evans: Three Ways to Eliminate Frustration & Fear

“But then I will come and do for you all the good things I have promised…”
 – Jeremiah 29:10 (NLT)

A new season brings fresh optimism and a unique, revitalizing energy, which is a fantastic thing.  It’s the type of energy that gets you motivated, makes you focus forward, and reminds you about the limitless potential and possibilities that lie within you.

As time passes, however, that new energy can quickly transition from excitement to anxiety, and then from anxiety to frustration.  After frustration makes an appearance, fear gets ready for its encore.  Can you relate?

This pattern is most likely to manifest after you have set new goals and stepped out with courage to believe for bigger dreams and increase.  I am here to tell you NOT to be surprised.  Big expectations are always attacked with even bigger frustrations.

The more in store for you will always come under attack by making you THINK and FEEL the opposite of whatever God promised and provided you.  So, if you started this new season with optimism and enthusiasm, that is the very thing that will be attacked.  Why?  You cannot go anywhere without a driver.  The enemy knows what drives you so He wants to take out the driving force.

If you started your new season with a new business plan, new relationships and new resources, then those are the very things that will be challenged.  Why? Whatever moves you to action is the very thing the enemy will relentlessly try to move out of the way.

Do you get the picture?  You have to.  It is really important that you recognize an attack for what it is.  An attack is always an attempt to take out what you know, think, or feel you need. The good news is that an attack is just an attempt, but never the final answer.  Our response to an attack is the single most important factor that determines its victory or failure.  Think about that.  You have the power to accept, reject or redirect any attack that comes your way.  The choice is always yours, but you must use wisdom (the stuff God already gave you) to properly discern what is really going on so you can respond with authority.

For every frustration, respond with your expectation.

Here are three examples of how you can fight any and every attack on your future by responding with expectation.

  • FRUSTRATION: Things are not moving as quickly as you would like.
  • EXPECTATION: God’s timing is perfect.  I don’t know when the promise will come to pass, but I know Isaiah 55:11 guarantees that His word will not return to me void. It will accomplish what is set forth.
  • FRUSTRATION: This challenge in front of me seems too great for me to climb.
  • EXPECTATION: According to 1 John 4:4, the Word confirms that greater is He who is in me than He who is in the world.  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me as promised by Philippians 4:13.
  • FRUSTRATION:  All of the people I’ve trusted and relied upon are now nowhere to be found.  There is no way I can do this on my own.
  • EXPECTATION:  Man’s rejection is God’s protection (see Psalm 84:11).  When God guides, he guards.  So anything and anyone removed FROM my life was necessary for God to keep moving IN my life.  According to Ephesians 2:10, I am uniquely prepared in advance to do good works.  I have everything I need already inside of me to accomplish my mission.  I stand on Proverbs 21:30, which says “there is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord.”  God knows exactly what He is doing.  He will send perfect resources and relationships at the perfect time.

Remember, the “enemy” I’m talking about is not always another person.  The greatest warfare takes place in the battlefield of your mind.  Renew your mind.  Release worry by unleashing the Word.  Speak what you seek until you see what you have said.  Know that when God promises, He proves.

In this new season, God does not need your talent.  He needs your TRUST –  (T)otal (R)eliance (U)pon (S)piritual (T)iming.   God’s timing is perfect.

Your most brilliant days are still ahead of you.  Choose to live today without limits!
